These terms apply to the early private beta of Winks Watermarks. The beta is provided for evaluation and feedback while the product is still being developed.

1. Beta access

Access is invite-only and may be limited by number of protected copies, time or version. Beta access may be changed, paused or withdrawn while Winks is being developed.

2. Your files

Only use EPUB files you have the right to process. Keep your original clean master files. Do not treat the beta as your only copy or backup.

3. What Winks is — and is not

Winks is designed to add traceability to individual EPUB copies. It is not DRM, does not make copying impossible and does not guarantee that a determined person cannot remove a fingerprint. A match can identify the issued copy associated with a fingerprint; it does not by itself prove who personally uploaded, copied or redistributed a file.

4. Beta reliability

Because this is beta software, bugs, incompatibilities and unexpected file behaviour are possible. Test every protected file before sending it to a real reader. Do not rely on the beta for high-value, irreversible or legally sensitive decisions.

5. Recipient information

Use recipient information lawfully and only where you have an appropriate reason to keep an issue record. In the current local beta, recipient details stay in the local Winks database rather than being written into the EPUB as visible personal information.

6. Feedback

Testers are encouraged to report bugs, confusing steps, reader-app problems and workflow issues. Please do not send passwords, signing keys or private Winks backup files when reporting a problem.

7. Private signing key and backups

Your local signing key and private backup files should be kept confidential. Anyone with access to them may gain access to sensitive issue data or undermine the integrity of your local verification setup.

8. No commercial promise yet

Features, pricing and availability may change before launch. Participation in the beta does not guarantee future free access or a particular commercial plan.
